A Less Than Creative Life Update

Life, what a concept.

How you all doing? It’s currently 10:37 in the morning, the shop is open and I’m writing from my till. I need coffee but got here late (again) so will have to wait (again) you see the running theme here? Steve is upstairs at his desk working hard with his clients, I’d ask him to bring me down a coffee but we have no milk, we’ve been too busy to keep up with buying it for the shop and I hate the powdered stuff. Life has been so hectic lately with the shop and all that comes with that, social media posts, restocking, steaming, pop up stalls and the art gallery. I actually don’t know how I do it all but I do and I have Steve, that’s the main thing. Without him id sink for sure but he swims for me when I no longer can and that is beautiful. So, I sit here, coffee-less and slightly tired from staying up till 2 am watching a new show (I really should learn by now). I’m feeling the need to write, not to be poetic or creative but just to write. To feel the keys under my fingers, to let out some of the mundane thoughts that fill my head, to speak without really speaking.

So what is new? I never really kept any of you updated on life, my business, my new cat, my marriage, so let’s dive in.

Like I said, I’m currently sat inside my shop, Ringo Retro (named after my dad) my vintage clothing shop in Doncaster. It’s so crazy to me that it exists even now. We started inside a storage unit last year and I’m now on my second larger shop with a second booth style location in Sheffield. To see something you create come to life and you get to live it everyday is so insane but it feels right. Don’t get me wrong it’s scary as fuck, exhausting and stressful but it’s mine and I love that. No more big bad bosses to fear, redundant rules to follow (that I didn’t set myself) and I can work at my own pace. I can also admit that it does take over your life a little, I mean I can hardly remember the last time I wore something that didn’t have my branding on it like my work hoodie or our tees, and so many of my nice shoes rarely see the light due to choosing to stay comfy in my trainers! But that’s a small price to pay to be my own boss.

SO, my new cat. Yes, we got a kitten, she’s a calico named Edina. Yup you are correct in thinking the name came from Edina Monsoon of AbFab, though we just call her Eddie. She’s absolutely crazy! But very lovable and very loved, unless your name is Yuki (our old white male cat) who is definitely not very fond of her. Though in fairness she does bully him quite a bit (in a loving way of course).

My marriage, I’ll keep this brief as I think I want to write a more in depth post on it later (today?) maybe. What can I say, It’s lovely. Like really lovely. As you all can see from my many heartbreak poems and text in this very blog over the years, getting to this point was no easy task and I truly didn’t think it would happen for me. By some miracle it did happen and I think I talk about our wedding at least twice a week still ha-ha because it was truly magical. What date are we on, let’s see it’s the 30th July 25 so we’ve been married 256 days and I’ve truly loved every one of them.

Well the time is now 11:15 and I am still without coffee. Thanks for reading this less than creative life update and I will catch you later with something a little deeper. But fist, coffee.
