*~ A Love Written in the Stars ~*

When we envisioned our wedding day, we dreamed of something that would feel as timeless and unique as the love we share. And so, under a celestial theme of midnight blue, gold, and decadent burgundy, we celebrated our union, a moment that felt truly written in the stars.

Setting the Scene

Our journey together began that morning on a charming canal boat nestled along the dock. The space outside was adorned with beautiful bunting, gently swaying in the soft breeze, and framed by the tranquil waters of the city. We made the decision to stay together the night before and prepare side by side. A quiet, intimate start to a day filled with love. It was a reminder that, through all of life’s adventures, we are each other’s constant.

The ceremony was held by the river in the most beautiful space, a converted venue called The Chimney House that perfectly blended the cosy charm of reclaimed vintage aesthetics with the romance of its riverside location. Greenery, exposed brick and beautiful candles scattered across the decor, gave the entire scene a touch of ethereal wonder. Unconditional by Freya Ridings played as we both took our steps down the aisle, and as we stood together, surrounded by friends and family taking our vows, it felt like we were in the middle of our own constellation of love.

What We Wore

In a departure from tradition, we embraced outfits that felt intimately “us.” My partner Steve looked handsome in red velvet, regal and warm, a perfect reflection of his vibrant personality. I wore black velvet with blue accents, a subtle nod to the midnight sky that had inspired so much of our day. Every element, no matter how small, was chosen to show not only our celestial theme but also the individuality and love we bring into our shared life. Our shoes carried personal touches, etched with roses, they were a quiet nod to our story, a symbol of beauty and resilience. Together, we felt authentically ourselves, a celebration of individuality on a day dedicated to unity.

The Celestial Touches

We wanted every detail to echo the magic of the cosmos. Single-stem flowers rested elegantly on each table, illuminated by gold moon lamps that cast mesmerizing shadows, evoking the mystery and beauty of the night sky. The colours, rich midnight blue, shimmering gold, and deep burgundy were woven through every detail, from the midnight blue cake scattered in gold with beautiful hand crafted roses and lilies, the banners adorning the walls, to the accents in our outfits.

A Celebration of Love

The reception was held in another converted city venue The Mowbray, its vintage reclaimed charm creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Candles glowed on every surface, adding depth and romance to the space. The air was filled with the sounds of jazz, a soundtrack of love, laughter, and the memories we’ve built together.

For us, one of the most meaningful parts of the day was the dance floor. It wasn’t just a place for celebration but a space where we could express ourselves freely. We danced to (Our Time by Roo Panes) surrounded by the people who have supported us on this incredible journey. It was a moment of pure joy, love radiating outward as we moved together, lost in the music.

Becoming the Mavericks

As the evening wound down, we reflected on how perfect every detail had been. From the celestial theme that tied the day together to the overwhelming feeling of love and support that surrounded us, our wedding was everything we had hoped for and more. And as we stepped into our new chapter together, we did so proudly as the Mavericks, a name that signifies not just our bond but also our shared commitment to live boldly and authentically.

This is the story of our wedding, a day filled with magic, meaning, and love. It was, quite simply, a day that felt like us. And now, as we look back, we know that the joy we felt was not just for one day but for a lifetime. After all, when love is written in the stars, the story is endless.
